Job description

Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS)

Cannon Restoration & Traffic Control Division

Lead Safe Work Zones. Build Great Teams. Make a Difference Every Day.

Exceptional work zones don't happen by accident.

They are built by leaders who plan ahead, communicate clearly, and make safety their highest priority.

Cannon Companies is looking for experienced Traffic Control Supervisors (TCS) who want to do more than manage lane closures-we're looking for leaders who take pride in mentoring others, solving problems, and helping build one of the premier Traffic Control & Restoration Divisions in the Pacific Northwest.

If you're passionate about safety, enjoy leading people, and want the opportunity to help shape a growing division, we'd like to meet you.

Why Join Cannon?

At Cannon, we believe our people are our greatest investment.

We're building a division where experienced leaders have the opportunity to make a real impact-not only on projects, but on the people they lead.

As a TCS, you'll have opportunities to:

  • Lead professional traffic control operations
  • Mentor and develop Flaggers and Traffic Control Technicians
  • Help establish best practices and operating standards
  • Work alongside restoration, utility, and civil construction crews
  • Grow into Foreman, Superintendent, and Operations leadership roles
  • Help build a division from the ground up

We aren't looking for someone to simply fill a position. We're looking for someone who wants to help build something exceptional.

What You'll Do

As a Traffic Control Supervisor, you'll be responsible for planning, leading, and executing safe, efficient, and compliant traffic control operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review, understand, and implement approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).
  • Lead daily traffic-control operations and coordinate work-zone setup, modifications, and removal.
  • Supervise Flaggers and Traffic Control Technicians while providing coaching and support.
  • Conduct pre-job safety meetings and daily work-zone briefings.
  • Inspect work zones to ensure compliance with MUTCD, Washington State requirements, and company standards.
  • Monitor changing traffic patterns, weather conditions, and jobsite hazards, adjusting traffic control as needed.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, subcontractors, utility owners, and customers.
  • Complete required documentation, inspections, and traffic-control reports.
  • Ensure traffic-control vehicles, arrow boards, signs, cones, and equipment are properly maintained and ready for deployment.
  • Represent Cannon professionally with customers and the public.

Leadership Expectations

At Cannon, leadership is more than giving directions.

We expect our leaders to:

  • Coach rather than criticize.
  • Lead by example.
  • Communicate with professionalism and respect.
  • Develop the people around them.
  • Hold themselves accountable.
  • Solve problems proactively.
  • Continuously improve how work is performed.

The success of a Traffic Control Supervisor isn't measured only by completed lane closures-it's measured by the safety, development, and success of the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Washington State Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Certification.
  • Valid Washington State Flagger Certification.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience implementing Traffic Control Plans.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in changing field conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Commitment to Safety, Quality, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

  • Utility construction
  • Telecommunications
  • Electrical utilities
  • Asphalt restoration
  • Concrete restoration
  • Civil infrastructure
  • MUTCD compliance
  • Lane closures on arterial roadways
  • Coordinating multiple work crews

Safety Is Non-Negotiable

Safety is the foundation of every decision we make.

We expect every Traffic Control Supervisor to create work zones that protect:

  • Employees
  • Customers
  • Utility crews
  • The traveling public

Every TCS has the authority and responsibility to stop work when conditions become unsafe.

No project, deadline, or production goal is more important than protecting people.

Career Growth

We believe great leaders continue developing throughout their careers.

A Traffic Control career at Cannon may include:

Traffic Control Supervisor → Foreman → Superintendent → Operations Manager → Division Leadership

We invest in people who invest in themselves.

About Cannon Companies

Since 1985, Cannon Companies has built a reputation for excellence in Electrical, Telecommunications, Civil Infrastructure, and Utility Construction.

Our success is built on four core values:

Safety • Quality • Integrity • Teamwork

As we continue to grow, we're committed to developing exceptional people, embracing innovation, and delivering outstanding service to every customer.

Benefits

Eligible employees enjoy:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • 401(k)
  • Company-paid Life Insurance
  • Company-paid Long-Term Disability
  • Paid Time Off
  • Ongoing leadership development
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Company events

Final benefits, screening requirements, and employment conditions should follow Cannon's current HR-approved language.

Ready to Lead?

We're looking for leaders who take ownership, develop others, and set the standard for safety and professionalism.

If you're ready to help build one of the Pacific Northwest's premier Traffic Control & Restoration teams, we'd love to hear from you.

Lead with purpose. Build with pride. Grow with Cannon.
