Job description

Accounting & Tax Operations Manager (Part-Time | 24 Hours)

Compensation: $40-$45/ hour

Schedule: 24 Hours Per Week (Highly Flexible | e.g., 3 days at 8 hours or 4 days at 6 hours)

Benefits: Medical Reimbursement Stipend (QSEHRA), Paid CPEs, Great PTO

The Mission

We are a family-owned accounting and tax firm built on quality, relationships, and technical excellence. As our firm enters its next chapter, the owners are moving into strategic roles, creating a need for an Accounting & Tax Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day technical execution.

This is a role for a seasoned professional who understands that a great client experience is built on a foundation of perfect accounting. You will be the "Technical Anchor" for our firm, overseeing the full-cycle accounting process, managing complex tax clients, and acting as the supervisor for our junior staff. We aren't looking for a task-taker; we are looking for a manager to own the client relationships and the results.

The "Total Value" Package

We value your time as much as your expertise. Our package is designed for a professional who wants a high-level career without the corporate "grind":

  • Premium Hourly Value: Your $40-$45/hour compensation for 24 hours/week is a premium rate (equivalent to a $83k+ full-time salary), designed for a pro who values autonomy.
  • Medical Stipend (QSEHRA): We provide a monthly tax-free stipend to help you cover your private health insurance premiums.
  • Paid CPEs: We value your expertise and require excellence, so we cover the cost of your required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses to ensure you stay at the forefront of the industry.
  • The 4-Day Weekend: Work your 24 hours and enjoy a permanent 3-day (or 4-day) weekend, even during peak tax deadlines.
  • Radical Autonomy: No micro-management. You have the authority to manage the junior staff's workflow and make technical calls on accounting and tax treatments for our clients.

What You’ll Do (Client Focus + Supervision)

  • Accounting Operations Oversight: You will own the integrity of our clients' financial health. You’ll supervise full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end closes, ensuring that every client’s records are accurate, reconciled, and "tax-ready" at all times.
  • Technical Tax Lead: Prepare and review complex business (S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, tax exempt organizations) and individual tax returns. You will act as the final filter for accuracy before client deliverables reach the owners.
  • Team Supervision & Workflow: Manage the daily operations of our associate and junior staff. You will lead weekly "triage" meetings, assign client tasks, and act as the first point of contact for technical accounting questions.
  • Client Advisor & Relationship Lead: You are the face of the firm for your client portfolio. You’ll lead client meetings, explain financial health in plain English, and proactively identify bookkeeping efficiencies or tax-saving opportunities.
  • Process Initiative: If you see a way to automate a client workflow or improve our tech stack, you have the authority to lead that change.

Who You Are

  • Client-First Mindset: You believe clean books are the key to a stress-free client experience. You have a deep understanding of full-cycle accounting and GAAP.
  • The Self-Starter: You have a "mini-owner" mindset. You don't wait for a to-do list; you manage the calendar, anticipate client deadlines, and report the wins.
  • Technical Expert: You have 5+ years of experience in accounting and tax. You can navigate complex reconciliations and tax laws for diverse clients with minimal supervision.
  • Socially Skilled: You enjoy the consultative side of the business. You have the empathy to handle stressed business owners and the confidence to lead a client meeting.
