Understanding the impact of existing tax laws is hard enough, and new legislation, judicial decisions and administrative authority compound the challenges. Professionals in RSM's Washington National Tax (WNT) office advise clients and RSM client engagement teams with respect to complex issues across a wide range of tax specialty practice areas.

Tax Controversy/IRS practice and procedure professionals advise RSM clients and internal engagement teams on IRS procedural and controversy issues and represent clients before the IRS. Representation includes but is not limited to, IRS account issues including various tax accounts analysis, penalty and interest abatements, missed election private letter ruling requests, IRS examinations, IRS Appeals and alternative dispute resolution techniques.

WNT isseekinga professional to join itsdynamic,collaborativeandwell-established nationalTax Controversy/ Practice and Procedure team.In this role, you will consult with clients and RSM professionals across the firm with respect to a wide range of tax controversy, taxpracticeand procedure issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Assistsenior professionals with IRS examinations, IRS appealsmatters

  • Research technicalissues specific toIRS practice and procedural issues including tax, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitation for refunds and assessments, missed elections, andIRS examinationandIRSappealsmatters

  • Preparewritten communications to the IRSregarding penalty abatement requests

  • Working on the IRS account issues,correctionsand reconciliations

  • Assistsenior professionals with preparation ofPrivate Letter Ruling Requests

  • Participate in firmtrainings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountingor related field from an accredited university

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong researchand writing skills

  • Strong computer skills, includingproficiencyin Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines andin accordance withfirm and client standards

  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means

  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, andmaintainaccuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, client service environment

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
