Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager – Task Force to provide temporary leadership and operational support at the Four Points by Sheraton in Mount Prospect.

This is a temporary assignment and is not a permanent General Manager position. The ideal candidate must be highly flexible with work hours, days, and scheduling based on the operational needs of the hotel.

The Task Force General Manager will focus on stabilizing hotel operations, supporting and developing the team, improving guest satisfaction, controlling labor and expenses, and ensuring compliance with Marriott brand and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership and oversight of daily hotel operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Four Points by Sheraton/Marriott brand standards.
  • Lead and support Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments.
  • Review occupancy, staffing, scheduling, payroll, labor costs, and overtime.
  • Maintain strong guest service standards and address guest concerns promptly.
  • Monitor room readiness, cleanliness, maintenance, and out-of-order rooms.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and employee performance.
  • Partner with HR on employee relations and compliance matters.
  • Monitor operational expenses, purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Complete required Marriott reports, audits, operational checklists, and action plans.
  • Provide regular updates to corporate leadership regarding hotel performance and priorities.
  • Help prepare the property for a successful transition to permanent leadership.

Qualifications & Availability

  • Previous hotel General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or Task Force management experience required.
  • Marriott experience strongly preferred; Four Points by Sheraton experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations, labor management, guest service, and financial controls.
  • Experience with hotel transitions, turnarounds, or operational improvement preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be hands-on and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have significant flexibility in hours and schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business needs require.
  • Must understand that this is a temporary Task Force assignment and not a permanent position.
