Job description

Description: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, the paraprofessional will assist certified professional staff with special education students in the classroom to meet academic and functional goals and objectives.


The individual selected for this position will be expected to:


  1. Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement individualized programs
  2. Assist and guide students to reinforce daily tasks
  3. Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
  4. Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensuring a safe and orderly classroom, and ensuring students are on task
  5. Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch period and other related non-instructional areas
  6. Accompanies students on field trips and community outings for the purpose of assisting with supervision
  7. Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement if IEP objectives
