Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Operates Tape Edge machine to bind/close mattresses by joining top or bottom panel to mattress border.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembles mattress units per established work instructions using a tape edge machine and variety of materials to bind borders to mattress panels, strip risers, and gussets
  • Ensures quality standards are met according to guidelines and corrects any defective tape and/or tape skips on mattresses
  • Changes the needle and binding tape for the sewing machine as needed
  • Makes necessary machine adjustments and perform basic maintenance (e.g. cleaning, lubricating, etc.)
  • Follows production schedule and current manufacturing procedures to produce pieces and achieve hourly production goals
  • Maintains a safe, clean and orderly workstation. Sweeps work area and removes debris regularly throughout the shift
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed


DIRECT REPORTS

  • No direct reports

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ year of experience operating Tape Edge Machines
  • Experience with use of industrial sewing machines (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a practical, methodical way while working with a sense of urgency.
  • Use required PPE Personal Protective Equipment: Safety Glasses

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift up to 75 pounds or more with team lifting on a regular basis.
  • Frequent and extended standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching for 8+hours

WORKPLACE & TRAVEL

  • This position works in a production floor setting.
  • Travel is not required.
