Duties
Help

• You will operate various pumps, valves, vehicles, small craft, and other ancillary equipment to load, unload, and transfer petroleum and lubricating oils.
• You will patrol pipelines and assist in surveillance of pipeline systems, tanks and manifold valves for receiving and issuing POL products and services.
• You will assist with various ship docking, line, hose handling and related wharf dockside duties during fueling and unloading operations of ships, barges, and tankers.
• You will perform general preventive maintenance, such as painting, cleaning valve vaults, sumps, and other such duties as assigned.
• You will regularly operate gasoline or diesel powered vehicles with vehicle weight of 36,000 pounds and 8,000 gallon fuel capacity, to transport fuel throughout the facility and to authorized customers.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license, Government Vehicle license, Material Handler Equipment license, AND Coast Guard license as Tankerman Person-in-Charge.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may be considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You may be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• Incumbent may be subject to occasional travel of up to 25%. This may require walking, bending and climbing during visits to various Navy and commercial installations. During the course of this travel, industrial facilities may be visited or toured.
• May lift or carry items that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds) and be qualified to wear a respirator.
• Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
• A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
• May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays or shift schedule depending on mission requirements.
• Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position and member may be required to be available on-call to deal with security issues that may arise. Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER, WG-5413-08, WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as:

• Experience operating complex workstations or portions of a large fuel distribution system and other portions of the system, in order to coordinate work with others.
• Experience using automated controls in the fuel control center and demonstrating skill in using numerous controls to properly regulate the flow of the liquids in a safe and efficient manner.
• Experience performing assignments according to manuals and prescribed directives that outline the work to be performed, and the safety and security measures needed to avoid potentially unsafe conditions.
• Experience operating fuel tank trucks of up to 36,000 lbs. GVW over public highways and in tight spaces at vessel docking areas.
