Job description

🚀 Funded Ph.D. Position – Spring 2027 | CIM Lab TAMUCC Computer Science


I am recruiting a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join the Collective Intelligence in Motion (CIM) Laboratory at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi beginning in Spring 2027.


The student will work on AI-enabled wireless and autonomous systems, including emerging directions such as wave-domain computing and Stacked Intelligent Metasurfaces (SIM).


🔬 Core Research Areas:

• UAV-assisted communications & connected/autonomous vehicles

• Intelligent metasurfaces (RIS/SIM)

• Edge computing & wireless resource allocation

• Optimization & reinforcement learning


🎯 Ideal Candidate:

• B.S. or M.S. in CS, EE, CE, Telecommunications, or a related field

• Strong foundation in linear algebra, probability, calculus, and optimization

• Strong programming skills in Python; MATLAB/C++ is a plus

• Background in machine learning; reinforcement learning/DRL is a strong plus

• Knowledge of wireless communications, networking, or signal processing

• Interest in working with UAVs, edge-AI platforms, simulation, and experimental systems

• Strong research potential and ability to learn independently
