Job Summary
We are seeking a Brake Press Operator in Troy, MI to set up, operate, and maintain brake press machines. This role is essential to ensuring high-quality production of metal components that meet precise specifications.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Brake Press Operator, your responsibilities will include:
  • Machine Setup: Prepare and set up the press brake machine by loading tooling, dies, and materials, ensuring proper calibration and alignment.
  • Material Handling: Position and align sheet metal or other materials for accurate bending operations.
  • Bending Operations: Operate press brake machines to bend or form materials per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect bent components for accuracy and quality using calipers, gauges, and other instruments.
  • Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tooling, ensuring proper function and condition.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues during production, including material inconsistencies or minor malfunctions.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company and industry safety guidelines.
  • Production Monitoring: Maintain workflow efficiency and document production data, including tally sheets, scrap reports, and daily logs.
  • Collaboration: Work with supervisors, engineers, and quality control staff to meet production targets.

What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma (technical education preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in machine operation or metal fabrication.
  • 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment with brake press or metalworking equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and SolidWorks designs.
  • Strong mathematical skills to interpret process sheets, tally sheets, and SOP manuals.
Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to set up, adjust, and operate brake press machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor machine and material issues effectively.
  • Proficient with hand tools required for setup and operation.
