Role

The Mechanical Engineer I supports the design and documentation of downhole tools as well as surface pump and process equipment under the guidance of the Tally Engineering Team. This role emphasizes learning and implementing company products, engineering standards, and processes while contributing to drawings, documentation, testing, and field support activities. Success in this role depends on attention to detail, willingness to learn, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The job duties herein describe essential functions of the position. Additionally, regular attendance and punctuality are essential to the success of the position. The individual should be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodations.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the design, evaluation, and production of fabrication drawings per customer and company requirements.
  • Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software under supervision.
  • Support the fabrication shop by answering drawing-related questions and incorporating approved revisions.
  • Assist the supply chain department with specifying components and reviewing vendor documentation.
  • Learn and apply industry standards, applicable regulatory codes, and company standards in assigned designs.
  • Provide technical support to field operations with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist with minor design modifications to existing equipment to improve manufacturability, cost, or reliability.
  • Support the development and maintenance of design plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and material and testing standards.
  • Maintain organized and current product documentation for manufacturing and field operations.
  • Participate in sustaining, verification, and qualification testing at the component, assembly, or system level.
  • Assist with QA/QC inspections of inventory parts and equipment.
  • Support inspection and verification of downhole tools and equipment prior to shipment to the wellsite.
  • Promote and adhere to all Company HSE policies, quality standards, and code of conduct requirements.
  • Perform other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 0โ€“2 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience or academic exposure to CAD (3D modeling and 2D drafting).
  • Familiarity with Simulation and CFD exposure is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn downhole tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • This position requires working primarily in an office environment. When on work sites it requires working on surface areas that are often muddy or slippery. It also requires working around heavy machinery, mechanical equipment with moving parts and electrical equipment as well as exposure to loud noises and contaminants. The employee is regularly required to operate vehicles and drive long distances on company business.
