Director of Talent Management and Leadership Development

Position Summary

Virginia Transformer is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Talent Management and Leadership Development to lead enterprise-wide initiatives focused on leadership capability, succession planning, talent assessment, organizational effectiveness, employee development, and high-potential talent programs.

This leader will partner closely with executive leadership, HR, and business leaders across multiple locations to develop and execute a comprehensive talent strategy that strengthens leadership pipelines, improves organizational capability, and supports the company's continued growth. The role will be instrumental in building world-class leadership development programs for front-line supervisors, managers, directors, and executives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Development

  • Design and implement leadership development programs for supervisors, managers, directors, and executive leaders.
  • Create scalable learning pathways to support leadership growth at all organizational levels.
  • Develop programs focused on coaching, communication, accountability, employee engagement, change management, and strategic leadership.
  • Facilitate leadership workshops, training sessions, and executive development programs.

Talent Management

  • Lead enterprise succession planning initiatives for critical leadership and technical positions.
  • Develop talent review processes and high-potential employee identification programs.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess organizational talent needs and future workforce capabilities.
  • Build competency frameworks and career development pathways across functions.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Support organizational design and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Implement talent assessment tools and leadership evaluation processes.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure leadership effectiveness, retention, internal mobility, and succession readiness.
  • Recommend actions to improve organizational performance and employee development outcomes.

Performance Management

  • Enhance performance management processes and development planning.
  • Partner with leaders to establish clear development goals and accountability measures.
  • Drive a culture of continuous feedback, coaching, and professional growth.

Employee Development

  • Oversee professional development programs for salaried employees.
  • Identify training needs and align learning solutions with business objectives.
  • Establish mentorship and coaching programs to accelerate employee growth.

Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and business leaders on talent strategy.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Compensation, and Operations leadership to align talent initiatives with business goals.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, organizational changes, and business transformation initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Psychology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Talent Management, Leadership Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or Learning & Development.
  • Experience designing and implementing leadership development programs across multiple organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated success leading succession planning and talent review processes.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Experience utilizing talent assessment tools, leadership frameworks, and organizational effectiveness methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or multi-site operational experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting organizations with 1,000+ employees.
  • Background in manufacturing, engineering, energy, industrial, or technical environments.
  • Experience working with executive leadership teams and board-level talent discussions.
  • Certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CPTD, Hogan, DiSC, Korn Ferry, or similar leadership assessment credentials.
