SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position of Business Development Manager (BDM), Process Systems, focuses on expanding market share within the rapidly growing energy and chemical markets. The BDM will be responsible for generating leads and selling Mott products and solutions to filtration projects, including petrochemical, nuclear, specialty chemicals, and biopharma, among others. This role requires a proactive approach in targeting operators and projects and generating leads into the sales pipeline.
REPORTING TO: Senior Director of Sales, Process Systems
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategic Market Development: Define and execute a process systems market-specific business development plan to penetrate refineries, chemical producers, biopharma companies, and nuclear projects.
  • Specification Sales: Proactively collaborate with process engineers, maintenance engineers, consultants, and engineering firms to secure product specifications.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and nurture relationships with decision-makers at target operators, engineering firms, and project integrators.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Lead full project cycle sales from initial opportunity identification through qualification, testing, proposal, negotiation, and closure.
  • Consultative Sales & Support: Act as a subject matter expert on filtration applications with customers, qualifying requirements, and technical design discussions.
  • Pipeline Management: Utilize CRM tools (e.g., Netsuite) to track opportunities, maintain accurate forecasting, and document project developments.
  • Build a qualified $100M pipeline and increase the qualified pipeline year over year with a $100M baseline.
  • Achieve above 40% firm proposal win rate and improve the win rate year over year with a 40% baseline.
  • Year over year, secure new strategic accounts that generate multi-year project streams, targeting 5 - 10 per year.
  • Attain annual booking quota and grow orders by 10% year over year.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent Mott at industry events.
  • Actively model Mott and IDEX values: Team, Trust, and Excellence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to read and interpret process specifications, datasheets, and 2D/3D layouts.
  • Sales Cycle Knowledge: Proven experience navigating complex, long-cycle project sales (6-18 months).
  • Networking Skills: Proven track record of networking with engineers, buyers, and end-users.
  • Able to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Remote work in one of the US major cities.
  • Communication: Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain technical products to diverse stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field.
  • 3-6 years of experience in B2B sales or business development, with a focus on process systems, energy sector, or filtration solutions.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $112,700.00 - $169,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
