Janitor (Part-Time)

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc.
Location:
APD Tacachale Campus, Gainesville, FL
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour
Benefits: Not Benefits Eligible
Schedule: Day shift between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (Schedule determined by the Project Manager)
 

Position Overview

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc. is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Janitorial Technicians to provide high-quality cleaning and sanitation services at the APD Tacachale Campus in Gainesville, Florida.
In this role, you will help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming office buildings and common areas while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and is committed to maintaining cleanliness, safety, and quality standards. Previous janitorial experience is helpful, but individuals with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

What You'll DoCleaning & Facility Maintenance
  • Vacuum carpets and hard floors, sweep, and mop assigned areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, and partitions.
  • Dust and clean office furniture, desks, windows, and windowsills.
  • Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and clean containers as needed.
  • Collect recyclable materials and transport them to designated collection areas.
  • Restock restroom, breakroom, and common area supplies.
  • Maintain janitorial closets in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Supply & Equipment Management
  • Properly operate, clean, and store janitorial equipment.
  • Report damaged equipment to the Crew Leader or Project Manager.
  • Report facility maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Follow proper chemical handling, dilution, labeling, and storage procedures.
Safety & Compliance
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow established cleaning procedures and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of cleaning products and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
Customer Service & Teamwork
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Follow directions from the Crew Leader or Project Manager.
  • Work independently and collaboratively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Previous knowledge of performance-based cleaning or willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must successfully pass all required background screenings, including local and Level II background checks
  • Must meet campus access requirements by providing a valid driver's license for DMV clearance (if driving on campus) or a valid state-issued ID
  • Must agree to and complete a tuberculin (TB) skin test before beginning work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience
  • Familiarity with cleaning products, equipment, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Physical Requirements

This position requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. Employees must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Team lifting is required for items weighing more than 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
