Job description

Job Title: Sr. Data Engineer

Location: Houston, TX - 4-5 days onsite with occasional travel

Length: 6 months with a long term extension expected

Data Engineer:
Must have hands on experience with:

  • Databricks
  • Unity catalog

Ideally has hands on experience with:

  • Power BI
  • Interest and passion for data governance / data management (including UAM, metadata, Gen AI, quality rules and metrics etc.)
  • Someone to pick up and drive implementation of our full suite of MVPs for data management space

This role will be heavily client facing and is not part of a larger so strong communication and client presence will be key.

DBT experience, performance optimization in both Databricks & Kafka and need to have advanced development scenarios in Data engineering pipelines.

Experience in oil and gas industry is preferable

As a Senior Associate Data Engineer specializing in Business Intelligence (BI) and Visualization, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, data models, and reporting solutions that enable data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and data scientists to ensure the availability of high-quality, actionable insights through intuitive and interactive visualizations.

Your Impact

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to support BI and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into data models and visualizations.
  • Implement and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and reporting solutions using tools such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity by implementing data governance and best practices.
  • Automate data processing and reporting workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate BI solutions with enterprise data platforms and applications.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on BI and visualization best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in BI, data visualization, and analytics to drive innovation.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, BI development, or data visualization.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data warehousing solutions.
  • Experience with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data manipulation and automation.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering actionable insights.
