Job description

An American legal team is seeking a Contract Attorney to join its Tax and Accounting (TAA) Division, supporting the Performance Segment, which includes the Preparer and Canada software businesses. This role will also provide legal support to other TAA North America segments, including Professional and Research & Advisory, as needed. As part of the TAA Legal team, this person will report to the Assistant General Counsel for TAA North America and play a key role in advising on a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters. This is a fully remote position offering a competitive compensation package.

  • Provide legal counsel on commercial, corporate, IP, tech, privacy, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage SaaS, licensing, vendor, and service agreements.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance, including tax-time financial products.
  • Assess legal risks related to new offerings, marketing, and data security.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align legal support with business goals.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the business and regulatory landscape.
  • Manage outside counsel efficiently as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree and a law degree (J.D. or LL.B) required.
  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible corporate and commercial legal experience.
  • Background should include experience at both a multinational law firm and a well-established in-house legal department.

  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS agreements, software licensing, and e-commerce transactions is essential.
