Job description

Job Title: Fleet Leader
Minneapolis, MN | Onsite
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience
Summary:
The Fleet Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company's fleet of trucks and drivers to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and compliance. This role involves managing driver schedules, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and ensuring adherence to DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will have a background in fleet management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact to balance drivers' health and safety with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company, combining shipments, when necessary, based on their routes and timeline to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out.
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Coordinate the maintenance requirements between the driver and maintenance to ensure timely and safe operation of the equipment
  • Manage and oversee the effective utilization of the district's vehicle assets.
  • Facilitate communication between the driver, terminal manager, and customer service.
  • Monitor and facilitate driver's progress throughout the day to ensure loads are delivered safely and within HOS regulations.
  • Ensuring and coordinating driver compliance with all FMCSA requirements.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Skills & Assets:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years in a transportation or logistics role required
  • 1-2 years leadership experience required
  • Dispatch with TMW experience preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or supplies up to 15--25 pounds occasionally
