POSITION SUMMARY:

BWI Group is a premier chassis supplier that designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the global transportation market. We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer responsible for the planning, development, and execution of test programs that verify and validate complex chassis systems against functional, performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The Engineer partners across disciplines; hardware, software, design, manufacturing, quality, and customers to translate system requirements into comprehensive test strategies, develop and instrument test setups, execute component and system-level testing, analyze and report results, and support product validation through launch.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform system testing of Suspension control products utilizing a computer simulation or HIL hardware
  • Develop test cases and test procedures based on product requirements with an emphasis on algorithm, diagnostics, communications, and system l/O
  • Establish traceability between product requirements, test cases, and test results
  • Document test findings and perform investigations to resolve reported software or system anomalies
  • Issue status reports as necessary for verification tests
  • Develop test designs and scripts for use on automated testing tools
  • Interface with the customer regarding test definition, test execution, timing, process, and issues
  • Support ISO 26262 System Safety Process
  • Support Automotive SPICE-compliant software development processes
  • Support vehicle application and calibration development
  • Contribute to vehicle and functional software issue resolution
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global automotive standards and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with BWI’s Global Suspension control systems team to align system and software test strategies and concepts across multiple sites (Brighton, China, Paris, Dayton, and Krakow)
  • REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (EE, ME or CSE preferred)
  • Knowledge of C/C++ programming language
  • Knowledge of Mathworks Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow
  • Familiarity with data acquisition instrumentation concepts
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts including embedded microcontroller software/controls
  • Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
  • Good technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with common computer applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience in embedded control system development
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle dynamics principles
  • Experience with Brake, Suspension, or Vehicle Control systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet)
  • Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 System Safety Concepts
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Cradle, Doors, Windchill
  • Experience with software test tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR

TRAVEL REQUIRED (%):
gt;25% travel to meet customers and suppliers with day travel to the various manufacturing facilities as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good teambuilding skills.
