Step into a visible, high-impact leadership role where your decisions directly shape engineering outcomes across an entire business area. The Senior Manager, Acoustics & Imaging Systems Functional Engineering leads cross-discipline teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities, accelerate program execution, and raise technical performance across a portfolio of programs.

This role offers the opportunity to build and scale exceptional teams, influence strategy with senior leaders, and drive meaningful change through modern engineering practices, clear accountability, and a strong culture of ownership. If you are energized by complex challenges, leadership at scale, and the chance to make a lasting impact, this is a role where you can lead from the front and deliver results that matter.

The Senior Manager, Acoustic & Imaging Systems Functional Engineering holds uncompromised, division-level accountability for program execution and technical delivery. This leader maintains a strategic dotted-line reporting relationship to the Division Chief Engineer, who carries ultimate responsibility for overall Engineering Execution in the Division. Operating within this framework, the Senior Manager aligns people, processes, and tools to drive divisional milestones while enforcing segment-wide interoperability. The role requires shifting organizational culture to an "Above the Line" ownership mindset, ensuring teams actively reject legacy excuses for program delays. By treating engineering rigor as the primary vehicle for schedule velocity, the Senior Manager eliminates downstream scrap, rework, and re-testing to enable teams to hit critical commitments on time. Additionally, this leader fosters high-stakes innovation through Agile and "Fail-Fast" prototyping without ever compromising baseline safety or verification standards..

Essential Functions:

  • Lead one or more cross-discipline engineering teams or a department, including planning, staffing, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Own functional execution for scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality across projects, pursuits, and programs.
  • Implement and scale an integrated operating model with clear role ownership, decision rights, and accountability.
  • Establish repeatable engineering processes, common tools, and shared metrics to enable segment-wide interoperability.
  • Lead cross-functionally across a portfolio of programs to align priorities and deliver results.
  • Build and maintain workforce and staffing plans to ensure the right talent capacity for current and future business needs.
  • Own recruiting, hiring, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and development of high-performing teams.
  • Drive disciplined engineering rigor and verification practices to improve first-time-right execution and reduce rework.
  • Enable Agile delivery and rapid prototyping/simulation approaches while maintaining safety, compliance, and mission assurance requirements.
  • Partner with Program Management, Chief Engineers, and functional peers on proposal activities, cost estimates, basis of estimate, and manpower planning.
  • Communicate and influence effectively across internal and external stakeholders on matters of substantial importance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (or as required by business needs).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required U.S. Government security clearances (minimum Secret).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Broad management and cross-functional leadership experience, including leadership of experienced professionals and/or leaders of leaders.
  • Demonstrated success driving execution across multi-discipline engineering teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience with workforce planning, staffing strategy, recruiting, and talent development.
  • Experience with EVMS/CAM responsibilities and proposal development (including BOE generation).
  • Experience with program execution frameworks, schedule/cost performance, and risk-driven technical planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance preferred.
  • Prior leadership across two or more engineering disciplines (e.g., systems, software, electrical, mechanical, test, specialty engineering).
  • Experience working in mission-critical or safety-critical development environments.
  • Experience leading organizational change and scaling teams through growth or realignment.
  • Familiarity with Agile-at-scale operating models and digital engineering/toolchain modernization.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $146,000.00 - $271,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
