What You'll Do - You'll Make the Moment

  • Technical Architecture & Hands-On Leadership

  • Lead a team of data engineers in developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Drive the evolution of our data architecture to support scalability, reliability, and performance with a Snowflake-first mindset, including data modeling standards, ELT patterns, warehouse strategy, security, performance optimization, and cost governance.
  • Remain technically hands-on as needed by designing solutions, reviewing code, modeling data, and guiding implementation decisions to ensure quality and consistency across the platform.
  • Promote and enable a culture of self-service analytics through thoughtful data architecture design and tool enablement.
  • Champion best practices in data engineering, continuously seeking opportunities to optimize processes and workflows and move the team from ad hoc pipelines toward reusable, scalable, and configuration-driven patterns.
  • Team Leadership & Planning

  • Direct the daily operations of the department, including analyzing and delegating work, establishing priorities, developing and monitoring adherence to standards, and guiding deadlines.
  • Own team-level planning, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, capacity management, and sequencing of work across initiatives.
  • Translate strategic initiatives and architectural goals into executable roadmaps and sprint-level plans.
  • Mentor team members, providing guidance and support to help them grow both technically and professionally.
  • Balance delivery of near-term business needs with longer-term architectural investments.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Analytics and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into durable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with DBAs in designing Snowflake environment, including roles and permissions, warehouse sizing, and credit monitoring.
  • Partners with IT leadership to understand new technology considerations, timelines, and how the data can play a role in improved analytics and business understanding.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Creates and maintains documentation that supports current and future state of business systems and promotes transparency across pipelines and platforms.
  • Help maintain the department budget, ensuring fiscally responsible use of company resources with explicit awareness of Snowflake cost drivers.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies, evaluating and implementing new tools and techniques where they provide clear value.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; Master's preferred and/or equivalent work experience
  • Six or more years of experience leading data engineering teams, with demonstrated ownership of architecture, delivery planning, and technical decision-making in modern cloud data platforms

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing technologies with experience operating in Snowflake
  • Demonstrated Management/Leadership skill that can inspire and motivate
  • Excellent communication for technical and non-technical team members
  • Solid technology knowledge leveraging cloud-based solutions, with continued desire to learn
  • IT project management techniques and methodologies with proven ability to plan, prioritize, deliver work using Agile framework
  • IT project management techniques and methodologies
  • Experience with tools such as: Azure/AWS, Snowflake, Data Stage/Informatica, Alteryx/Dataiku/Databricks or similar platforms
