Ground Systems Development Analyst
Job Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Job Status: Full Time

At Astrion, we are at the forefront of new missile defense technologies and engaged with the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) rigorous engineering efforts to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System (MDS). This exciting, rewarding work helps guarantee the security of the United States, deployed forces, and allies. Join a professional team of highly qualified engineers, analysts, scientists and technicians supporting the research, development, testing and evaluation of the missile defense system whose purpose is to detect, track, engage and destroy adversary missiles.
Your typical day - Our MDA analysts and engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone is located in Huntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as "Rocket City." Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts - military, government civilians, and contractors from Astrion and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems.
What are your specific duties? - The Ground Systems Development Analyst will support the Missile Defense Agency MDA Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program office. The candidate will provide technical and advisory assistance to GMD by aiding in the systems engineering process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field
  • Experience: MS + 12 years or BS + 20 years of relevant experience
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • Works independently and/or leads teams to analyze and resolve problems
  • Direct experience with requirements verification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and DOORS
  • Ability to develop and present technical reports and briefings including support to the Engineering Review Boards (ERB), other Stakeholder coordination, and Operational Capability List (OCL) approval process
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes
  • Direct experience in digital engineering/DevSecOps development projects
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the GMN System Engineering Leadership in requirements verification to ensure that the system or software will meet the predefined technical requirements, specifications, and design criteria
  • Analyze GMD Ground System Performance Specification and other requirements documentation, review the development contractor Joint Review Packages (JRP) for decomposition of requirements, and provide recommendations on acceptance of the proposed verification strategy
  • Confirm the verification strategy for the requirement set is clearly articulated, complete, correct, consistent, and achievable
  • Review GMD Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables and Objective Evidence artifacts, and provide comments and recommendations for concurrence or guidance
  • Support the government in preparation, conduct, and after-action responsibilities for Sprint reviews, program management reviews, system requirements reviews, design reviews, project status reviews, test events, fielding readiness reviews, and operational readiness reviews
  • Travel as required (estimated 10%)
