Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems Controller to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia.
Summary/General Description Of Job:
The Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems Controller is responsible for coordinating, planning, and monitoring maintenance and repair activities to ensure timely and efficient completion of all assigned work for the Drydock plumbing, SWFLANT plumbing, Facilities Plumbing, Fire protection systems, and the SWFLANT Fire protection systems. This role ensures materials, labor, and resources are properly aligned with project requirements, and that work is executed according to contractual deadlines, safety standards, and customer expectations. The Work Scheduler serves as a key communication point between customers, shops, dispatch/scheduling teams, and project leadership to maintain accurate workflow, minimize downtime, and support overall operational performance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to interpret maintenance requirements, and proficiency with scheduling tools and databases such as MAXIMO.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
โ€ข Schedule, track, and expedite maintenance work.
โ€ข Process material requests and ensure materials are available.
โ€ข Coordinate access, priorities, and job requirements with customers and trade shops.
โ€ข Update work status and maintain accurate records in scheduling databases.
โ€ข Provide workload, backlog, and performance reports to management.
โ€ข Support process improvements that enhance planning and scheduling efficiency.
โ€ข Develop, organize, and process outages required for maintenance being performed.
โ€ข Cross training with other trades
Accountable For:
โ€ข The proper use of tools and/or equipment needed to be successful in the performance of duties for the Work Scheduler position.
โ€ข Completing all required training on time.
โ€ข Accurate, timely, and cost-effective performance of assigned duties.
โ€ข Professional and courteous interaction with customers and coworkers.
โ€ข Following company safety policies, SOPs, and personnel procedures.
โ€ข Maintaining accuracy and timeliness in all scheduling and departmental work.
โ€ข Performing effectively under pressure and managing multiple tasks.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent.
โ€ข Must have two (2+) plus years of experience supporting or coordinating fire protection system maintenance, including sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, fire hydrants, and fire suppression equipment.
โ€ข Understanding of NFPA standards, especially NFPA 25 (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems).
โ€ข Knowledge of pressure testing, flow requirements, and water system safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and confined space considerations.
โ€ข Strong communication skills to translate technical requirements between field technicians, engineering teams, and scheduling/operations leadership.
โ€ข Computer proficiency in Windows; strong Excel skills preferred.
โ€ข Experience with MAXIMO or similar maintenance systems is highly desirable.
โ€ข Valid driver's license, ability to pass background check/drug screening, and U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred
โ€ข Experience in facilities or preventive maintenance environments.
โ€ข Advanced Excel skills and prior use of MAXIMO or comparable systems.
โ€ข Knowledge of plumbing systems, such as potable water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, pumps, valves, backflow preventers, and domestic hot water systems.
