Job Title: Financial Systems Controller
Job Description

The Financial Systems Controller serves as a key liaison between Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT, with primary responsibility for aftermarket financial analysis and support of controlling and accounting processes. This role emphasizes inventory accounting, cost accuracy, and end-to-end warehouse and distribution flows. The position plays a critical leadership role in system initiatives, including serving as the finance lead for warehouse management system (WMS) implementations, ensuring alignment with financial controls, data integrity, and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations stakeholders to align system capabilities with business strategies and accounting requirements, focusing on inventory and distribution processes.
  • Serve as the finance lead on WMS implementations and enhancements, ensuring proper design and integration of inventory valuation, transaction flows, and financial postings.
  • Analyze financial systems and operational processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, particularly across inventory, warehousing, and order fulfillment.
  • Gather, document, and translate business and accounting requirements into functional specifications to support system configuration and development.
  • Ensure financial data integrity across systems, including SAP and integrated platforms, focusing on inventory movements, costing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support design and validation of end-to-end processes, including procurement, receiving, inventory management, production, and distribution.
  • Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses to support system investments and process improvement decisions impacting finance and operations.
  • Lead and support testing activities (unit, integration, UAT), ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Provide ongoing functional support and issue resolution for financial systems, particularly related to inventory accounting, system postings, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance and IT to ensure technical solutions meet financial reporting, controls, and compliance needs.
  • Provide operational controlling support to the supply chain and parts distribution organization, including analysis of inventory performance, cost drivers, and process efficiency.
  • Support multiple concurrent initiatives, with an emphasis on ERP and WMS-related projects.
Essential Skills
  • 5โ€“7 years of experience in financial systems, business analysis, or finance roles supporting supply chain and operations.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, with emphasis on inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP and/or WMS implementations within a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, including relevant modules such as FI/CO, MM, and WM/EWM, and understanding of system integrations is preferred.
  • Ability to translate financial and operational requirements into system solutions and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial data validation, reconciliations, and internal controls within system environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex systems and data structures.
  • Project management capabilities, including managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage both finance and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, enhance system efficiency, and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Work Environment

This hybrid role requires four days onsite and one day working from home per week. Core hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00/5:00 PM with a flexible schedule and one lunch break. The candidate will spend most of their time supporting active IT infrastructure projects from a finance and controls perspective. This includes reviewing system solutions, conducting user acceptance testing, and ensuring finance requirements are accurately reflected. Collaboration with cross-functional project teams is a regular part of the role. Occasionally, the role requires domestic travel, possibly once every six months to locations such as Fort Mill or Portland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
