Job description

Systems Administrator

Currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join the IT Operations team (IT Ops) supporting a 24x7x365 environment.

Pay Rate: $29.80 - $31.25 per hour during the initial six-month contract period. $65,000 - $68,000 upon permanent conversion.  

Work Location: On-site in Falls Church, VA. Shift: Wednesday - Sunday from 6 am - 2:30 pm ET or Thursday - Sunday from 6 am - 4:30 pm ET. Work schedules are subject to change, based on the needs and direction of the customer.

  • The onboarding/transition period requires on-site day shift support Monday - Friday for up to 60 days before resuming the posted shift.

Basic Required Qualifications and Skills:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At the start date, must possess a valid IAT Level II certification in ACTIVE
    • In addition, must obtain a computing environment certification (e.g., CySA+) within six months of hire. 
    • When 8140 requirements are implemented on a program/contract, employees will need to conform to 8140 certification standards.
  • 3+ years of related experience in System Administration and/or IT Operations environment.
  • Experience with:
    • ServiceNow ticketing systems
    • MS Windows Server 2019
    • Active Directory administration
    • Linux and Cisco network systems
  • Extensive knowledge of:
    • MS Windows 10 and MS Office
    • Virtualization, patch management, and network security principles
  • Physical Requirements of lifting and/or pulling up to 40lbs.; sitting, bending, and standing. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize work, and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and adapt to changing operational needs, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, while supporting a fast-paced and ITIL transitional environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to support incoming customer support calls and emails, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional decorum.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • All applicants must have an active DoD SECRET clearance day one and before entry on duty.

Desired Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent

       combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work experience.

  • Multiple computing certifications in active status.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Support a 24x7x365 IT Operations environment, support the team process, and participate in cross-functional teams.
  • Administer, maintain, and enhance IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage, and network systems.
  • Monitor system performance, resolve incidents, and fulfill service requests using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, maintain accurate documentation and communication throughout.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across Windows, Linux, and Cisco environments.
  • Coordinate with external partners for escalated issues beyond program control.
  • Manage Active Directory and core IT services, including user access, patch management, and system updates.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls in compliance with DoD and organizational security standards; conduct audits and security assessments as required.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans; manage and test backup and recovery procedures.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, system diagrams, and standard operating procedures to ensure operational continuity.
  • Analyze recurring issues and recommend process or system improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to end users and junior IT staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
