Job description

Position Summary

The Senior System Integration Engineer specializes in the design, component selection, and full integration of electrical, mechanical, and optical components into a cohesive, fully functional system. The Senior System Integration Engineer collaborates across the various engineering disciplines to ensure the product delivers the expected levels of performance and ensures that the product meets strict environmental and operational requirements. Their role spans many facets of design, testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting to enhance system reliability and improve its operational performance. In addition, the Senior System Integration Engineer is a key resource for troubleshooting issues within R&D, the factory, and systems in the field given the full understanding of the interoperability of the system's various components. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Key member of development team(s) and regular participant in development meetings
  • Identification and selection of components and sub-systems to support development programs
  • Design and integration of electrical and mechanical sub-systems
  • Performance and environmental testing to ensure design requirements are met
  • Specify and/or develop hardware and software tools to assist in product development programs & product manufacturing
  • Specify and/or develop prototype parts, assembly and test fixtures, etc.
  • Support compliance testing programs
  • Support Manufacturing Team with training, troubleshooting & resolution of quality issues
  • Support Service Team with training, troubleshooting & resolution of quality issues

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant miliary/career experience in a STEM discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in the troubleshooting of analog and digital electronics
  • At a minimum, a working knowledge of design tools such as Altium (EE) & Solid Works (ME)
  • Capacity to specify & design PCBAs and harnesses required for system integration activities (e.g. interface boards, communication PCBs, interconnect harnesses, etc.)
  • Proficiency in analytical troubleshooting methodologies
  • Familiarity with testing approaches such as HALT to ensure reliability and operational ruggedness
  • Proficient in the use of testing tools and equipment such as oscilloscopes, regulated bench supplies, thermocouples, accelerometers, environmental chambers, etc.
  • Proficiency with prototyping parts via in-house machine shop and 3D printing technology
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills required
  • Prior experience supporting compliance testing programs e.g. EMI, CE Safety, Mil Spec 810, etc.
  • Familiarity with common software tools such as Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with software tools/languages such as Python a plus

Additional Information

  • Location: This is a full-time position located in our Danbury, CT facility 
  • Compensation: The annualized base pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $130,000 and $150,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on several individualized factors, including market location, job-related skills, and experience. This position may also be eligible to receive additional compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission, or long-term incentives.
