System Integration Lab Engineer
Location: Stratford, CT (Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Month Contract
Job Summary
Seeking a System Integration Lab Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and verification of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and Closed-Loop test facilities. This role focuses on test lab design, hardware integration, infrastructure planning, schematics development, and laboratory operations within an aerospace engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support HWIL and Closed-Loop test facilities and test beds.
  • Integrate hardware, power, networking, and data acquisition systems into lab environments.
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams using tools such as Visio, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, and Siemens NX/3DX.
  • Coordinate hardware installation, interface management, and cross-functional integration activities.
  • Support laboratory infrastructure planning, including power distribution, cabling, cooling, and equipment layouts.
  • Manage equipment procurement, inventory, receiving, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, test procedures, and configuration-controlled records.
  • Support troubleshooting, test execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience designing and developing HWIL or Closed-Loop test facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with test bed design and hardware integration in lab environments.
  • Experience creating schematics and block diagrams using Visio, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, or Siemens NX/3DX.
  • Knowledge of ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, or similar aerospace standards.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or NI VeriStand is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Ideal Candidate
  • Systems Integration Engineer, HWIL Engineer, SIL Engineer, Avionics Integration Engineer, or Test Facility Engineer.
  • Aerospace/Defense industry background preferred.
  • Must have experience designing test labs/facilities, not just performing electrical testing.
  • Strong experience with hardware integration, schematics, and lab infrastructure planning.
  • Experience managing equipment logistics, inventory, and lab setup activities.
