Job description

The Opportunity NineFX is seeking an experienced System Administrator Level 3 to support implementation, troubleshooting, security hardening, and maintenance of mission critical IT systems. This role involves Linux administration, patching, compliance support, monitoring, automation, and Tier 1/Tier 2 escalation in a highly secure environment. The System Administrator will support system operations across Linux, UNIX, and Windows platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with agency standards. What You’ll Do Linux Administration & Security
• Patch and update Linux distributions based on security findings
• Add/remove users and manage permissions to meet privilege requirements
• Monitor system health and status using tools such as Nagios
• Work with STIGs and address vulnerabilities, including STE/STN findings
• Renew Linux server certificates and implement updates to TLS security versions
• Support ISSOs during Security Control Assessments (SCA), including review of 400+ SCTM controls Automation, Documentation & Virtualization
• Use Ansible to automate updates, patching, and configuration tasks
• Update SOPs and technical documentation in Confluence General System Administration
• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
• Support daily IT system operations, monitoring, and problem resolution across client/server, storage, network, and mobile devices
• Configure and manage Linux, Windows, and UNIX operating systems
• Install and load OS software and patches to maintain compliance
• Maintain integrity and configuration of network components and implement OS enhancements for performance and reliability
• Support system design, mission architecture, and associated hardware
• Support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
• Manage daily configuration and operations of enterprise systems
• Assist users with system access and technical use
• Provide Tier 1 & Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization
• Perform capacity analysis and planning
• Provide in depth troubleshooting and analysis of escalated issues
• Support escalation communications with agency management and internal customers
• Support dispatch system and hardware problem resolution
• Analyze and resolve complex issues involving server hardware, applications, and software integration
• Understand interdependencies as part of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FS Poly) (no exceptions/no sponsorship)
• Fifteen (15) years of experience as a System Administrator supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
• OR five (5) additional years of SA experience may substitute for a degree
• Experience with VMware is helpful • HUBZone residency preferred (check eligibility: https://maps.certify.sba.gov/)
