Job description

As a Medical Assistant for Swope Health Services, you are a part of a team of caregivers to provide care for the people who need it most. You are responsible for receiving and preparing patients for medical examinations and treatment.

This includes taking vital signs, and medical and social history, assisting the provider with the examination and treatment, and entering clinical data into the electronic health record. Under the general supervision of a medical provider, you will perform general medical services such as medication administration, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Successful Candidates will have:

  • High School diploma or GED
    • Graduated from an accredited medical assistant program.
    o Certified by one of the following:
    § NRCMA
    § RMA
    § CMA
    § NCMA
    § CCMA
    o IF not certified by one of the above, 2 years of experience in a private office, ambulatory care clinic, or hospital may be initially substituted for certification. You may be asked to become certified as a future requirement of employment.
    • If not graduated from an accredited medical assistant program, then 5 years of experience in a private office, ambulatory care clinic, or hospital may be initially substituted for certification. You will be asked to complete courses and become certified as a future requirement of employment.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certified, or able to be obtained within 3 months of hire
    • Must exhibit the ability to work with people (staff, visitors, and clients).
