Job description

Herd Technician - Swine Production
Locations in Willard, NC
Job Description: Performs various daily activities relating to the farrowing and/or breeding of and health/welfare of swine. Performs duties including, but not limited to, monitoring house/room environment, care and feeding of animals, farm sanitation, animal health and well being, safety and housekeeping, animal movement, animal science and husbandry, and animal tracking data and all associated paperwork. Insures that proper feed and supplies are on hand and follows standards for feeding and watering animals. Promotes teamwork and is an active participant of the farm's team.
Other duties consist of the following:
  • Scraping, sweeping, processing, castrating, catching and loading of animals, disinfecting, power washing, cleaning office, and laundry.
  • Reports any/all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or GED, preferred.
Salary: Hourly rate dependent upon experience and education.
ADA Requirements:
  • Ability to walk, stoop, bend, climb.
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors and ability to hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
