Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary

  • Location: Swedish Hospital ; Chicago, IL

  • Full Time (40 hours)

  • Hours: Evening Shift (3:00-11:30pm) Rotating Weekends/Holidays

  • Required Travel: no

What you will do:

Patient Care Tech: Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and, according to established procedures, performs patient care tasks and patient care procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients.

Unit Secretary: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides clerical support for assigned nursing unit or department. In doing so, transcribes physicians' orders and enters into computer, schedules diagnostic tests and therapies for patients; assembles and maintains patients' charts, answers telephone and intercom calls; provides routine information and relays calls and messages. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned unit or shift

What you will need:

Education, Experience and/or Skills Required:

  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training course or minimum six months of previous patient care experience or equivalent or completion of one nursing clinical rotation is preferred. Currently CNA is required.

  • Successful completion of care Companion Course within six months of hire when course is required by the department.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.

  • Required to attend in depth orientation regarding patient care skill tasks.

  • High school level of communication and/or math skills prior to hire.

Education, Experience and/or Skills Preferred:

  • Computer training and medical terminology

License/Certification Required:

  • Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
