About this Job Office of Juvenile Justice Swanson Center for Youth-Monroe 4701 South Grand St., Monroe, LA 71202 https://ojj.la.gov/location/swanson-center-for-youth-monroe The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a confident, organized, and mission-driven Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 - Administrative Captain to help lead daily operations within a secure-care environment. This role is ideal for a steady, solutions-focused professional who thrives in fast-paced settings and takes pride in maintaining safety, structure, and accountability. As an Administrative Captain, you'll oversee youth and staff movement, conduct security rounds, support treatment efforts, and ensure the facility operates smoothly and safely

You'll also play a key role in audits, policy development, emergency response, and staff supervision - all while helping create an environment that supports rehabilitation and positive youth development. Your leadership will help maintain consistency, strengthen operational standards, and support the overall mission of secure care. If you're a dependable leader who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and leads by example, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma or GED or one year of experience in any field plus: Three years of experience in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting with responsibility for one or more of the following: rehabilitation of delinquent youth, clinical care, custody, or security; OR Three years of experience in Probation and Parole. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Leads daily youth and staff movement - ensures safe, secure transitions; conducts building, grounds, and perimeter checks; and maintains custody and control at all times.

Maintains security operations - performs rounds, enforces contraband-control policies, responds to issues, and prepares shift reports and documentation. Supports audits & policy development - participates in ACA/PbS audits, assists with SOP development, and collaborates with the safety officer on safety programs and hazard tracking. Contributes to treatment efforts - attends treatment team meetings, provides behavioral observations, and serves on Code of Conduct committees when assigned.

Responds to emergencies - conducts searches, follows contraband-control procedures, and ensures all required documentation is completed. Supervises and develops staff - manages time and attendance, prepares CPM evaluations, identifies training needs, and consults with supervisors on personnel actions. Acts as shift leadership - serves on 24-hour call, performs duties in the absence of the Corrections Lieutenant Colonel, and completes additional tasks as assigned.
