Job description

Sustainability Lead
Vernon, TX & Jackson, MS
Summary:
The Sustainability Reporting Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive sustainability reporting processes across construction projects. This role ensures accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, green building standards, and client requirements. The lead will drive the integration of sustainable practices into project execution and communicate the company's sustainability achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sustainability Data Management: Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of sustainability data specific to construction projects, including materials, fuel, water, energy, and waste
  • Project-Level Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely reporting on sustainability performance for individual construction projects, addressing aspects like site environmental impacts, material sourcing, waste diversion rates, and energy/water efficiency measures.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site superintendents, trade partners, procurement, and engineering teams to integrate sustainable practices into project planning and execution and to optimize data quality for reporting.
  • External Communication: Prepare and present sustainability reports to clients.
  • Green Building Certification Support: Manage documentation, credit tracking, and submission processes for green building certifications such as LEED and Green Globes for construction projects?if required.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and support project teams and trade partners on sustainable construction practices and reporting requirements.

Qualifications
Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred but not required.
Experience:
  • Generally, 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • Specific experience in sustainability reporting for construction projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of green building design, sustainable construction practices, and energy efficiency techniques is preferred.
  • Understanding of environmental legislation and regulations pertinent to construction?is preferred.
  • Expertise in various sustainability reporting platforms (e.g., Procore, EC3)?is highly valued.
  • Experience in implementing and administering sustainability programs at project sites is preferred.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong data analysis and statistical evaluation skills, particularly with large datasets.
  • Proficiency in construction documentation and processes.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), data visualization tools, and relevant sustainability software applications.
  • Knowledge of low- and zero-carbon technologies and renewable energy systems applicable to construction is highly valued.

Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences, including clients, project teams,?trade partners,?and senior leadership.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
