Job description

Job Title: Archaeological Field Technician
Location: Waco, TX
Type: Contract
Compensation: $20 - $27 hourly
Contractor Work Model: Onsite - onsite
Responsibilities
  • Perform archaeological field work, including excavations of shovel test pits, excavation units, and site documentation under supervision.
  • Identify, analyze, and record artifacts and features, contributing to archaeological data recovery and analysis.
  • Map excavation sites and features accurately using GPS units.
  • Assist in laboratory work and GIS tasks related to archaeological projects.
  • Conduct archaeological surveys and testing in various environmental conditions, including rugged terrain and remote locations.
  • Work flexible hours which may include weekends, nights, and adverse environmental conditions.

Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Familiarity with Phase I, II, and/or III archaeological work
  • Minimum of three months of field experience in survey, testing, and data recovery
  • Ability to identify and record prehistoric resources
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Associate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or closely related field
  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work hours outside of standard 8 to 5 schedule, including weekends and nights
