About the Role

Coleman Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Surveying to lead and expand our Surveying Division across the Southeast. This role is ideal for a visionary Professional Land Surveyor with strong operational leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation. The Director will oversee survey production, technology integration, quality assurance, and team development—driving both project excellence and strategic growth.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a growth-oriented leader who combines deep technical knowledge with strong business and people leadership. The ideal candidate will guide operations, mentor staff, and expand Coleman’s surveying capabilities through technology, quality, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning, budgeting, and operations for the Surveying Division.
  • Oversee large-scale boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction staking projects.
  • Integrate advanced technologies such as RTK GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, and UAV mapping.
  • Ensure compliance with Georgia and South Carolina technical standards and regulations.
  • Direct QA/QC processes for plats, legal descriptions, and digital data deliverables.
  • Drive adoption of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, and other field-to-finish software.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key municipal and private clients; lead proposal and fee development.
  • Mentor survey managers, project surveyors, and field staff to foster professional growth and accountability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in GA and/or SC (or able to obtain within 6 months).
  • 10+ years of progressive survey experience with proven leadership and project management.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, and GPS/Robotic systems.
  • Strong communication, client management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and commitment to quality.
