In a surgery internship, being 22 is generally not too old, as many medical students and recent graduates pursue internships at that age. Admission criteria focus on qualifications and motivation rather than age alone.

What does a surgery intern do?

A surgery intern assists surgeons by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and supporting patient care before, during, and after surgeries. They observe procedures, learn surgical techniques, and gain hands-on experience under supervision as part of their medical training.

How do you become a surgical intern?

To become a surgical intern, candidates must complete medical school and earn a medical degree (MD or DO). After graduation, they must pass licensing exams and apply for a residency program in general surgery, which typically lasts five to seven years and includes hands-on surgical training under supervision.
