JOB SUMMARY:
Looking for a Surface Landman to be based in Fort Worth, Texas and take a role within a small, nimble and dynamic land team, assist in managing our growing land position and review land/title/contracts/agreements. The core responsibilities for this role will be new well staking and settlement, protecting BKV's upstream and midstream rights from potential development and encroachment, and managing surface owner inquires. This individual would create value through their expertise in surface land, and engagement and flexibility working in other facets of the Land Department of BKV Corporation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Asset Management - Surface (Barnett)
  • Work with Barnett land team to manage and maintain BKV's surface land position (tracking, organizing, curative, correspondence, etc.)
  • Negotiate and draft surface use agreements and ROW (coordinating with the Land Supervisor and technical team), if not already in place to ensure BKV's ability to prudently develop and produce its assets.
  • Coordinate staking of new well sites
  • Proactively seek opportunities to protect BKV rights while adding additional revenue streams arising from suburban and urban growth.
  • Keep full organization informed on key developments and trends tied to suburban and urban growth and how it may impact BKV's asset and plans.
  • Interpret and negotiate various additional contracts including right of way agreements, easements, affidavits, water purchase agreements, etc.
  • Ensure legal and adequate access to all midstream and upstream assets in coordination with operations.
  • Procure payments owed to BKV per the terms of a lease, surface use agreement, or other negotiations.
  • Request payments for surface use and other payments made to surface owners per terms of lease or surface use agreements.
  • Work with Land Administration, Asset teams, and land support personnel to maintain Land Records System
  • Assists with compliance with county and municipal regulations related to permitting and operations ensuring all local permitting matters related to upstream and midstream are completed timely, thoroughly, and accurately.
  • Handle landowner inquires/complaints/issues in coordination with Owner Relations.

  • Assist in due diligence efforts
  • Interact with and provide operations and geoscience groups with land support and information critical to evaluating the of development of properties acquired

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Preferred 5+ year(s) of experience as a landman with experience in midstream and upstream
  • Preferred RPL or CPL designation
  • Excellent project manager
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and obtain results in a performance driven, team-oriented environment
  • Considered top of their class and could demonstrate this through their most recent ranking and/or employer feedback
  • Eager to move into a role and company such as this and can articulate why that is the case
  • Very intelligent with high attention to detail - a sharp intellect, with very strong attention to detail.
  • This person is humble - Willing to take on all sorts of roles (even administrative items at times) and willing to take direction. They are a team player with self-confidence but no self-centered ego.
  • Ability to learn - This person would have a strong appetite and passion towards learning and excelling at new skills and tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The job is based in Fort Worth, TX at BKV Corp's Barnett Office.
  • Occasional travel may be required and would be on an as needed basis. Currently estimated less than 10% of total time.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
  • This role will report directly to the Land Supervisor Surface.
  • Role has no direct reports.
