The Maintenance Team Leader (MTL) is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling and execution of all maintenance and assigned projects in a timely manner within the area of responsibility. The MTL will be responsible for identification, ordering, and planning of all required parts to complete all maintenance work. This role is also responsible for the efficient and effective use of all manpower and other resources under their supervision. The MTL is accountable for motivating, training, hiring, implementing work rules and administering the maintenance technicians supervised. Additionally, the MTL is the frontline provider of equipment-related expertise and technical guidance for the maintenance technicians and a change management agent for Quaker Oats.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of skilled tradespeople (Electricians, Mechanics, Fabricators)
  • Leverage team knowledge to improve asset reliabilty
  • Identify and plan for training opportunities, while maximize the exising skills and capabilites of the team
  • Work with maintenance technicians to resolve problems and perform troubleshooting
  • Determine resource availability for the upcoming week and develop craft availability forecasts in preparation for weekly scheduling
  • Responsible for accountability for all employees inlcuding, but not limited to; Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), health and safety and job performance
  • Lead the weekly planned work scheduling meeting
  • Review the previous week's schedule, completions and deferrals, with the Maintenance Indirect assignees
  • Contract adminstration and change management
  • All other administrative personnel functions

Develop and publish negotiated weekly maintenance schedule; including preventive and predictive maintenance measures, prioritizing work from requestors and projects and improvement modifications
  • Execute the week's work schedule:
    • Evaluating and authorizing work that is approved to disrupt the current week's schedule of work
    • Making tactical decisions to stay on schedule, addressing, emergency work (breakdowns), carryover work and new high priority work

Preventive Maintenance (PM)
  • Coordinate production requirements and downtime availability with production planning
  • Kitting parts for planned work and routine maintenance.
  • Perform continuous asset management ensuring the provided CMMS is accurate
  • Perform early management maintenance tasks for capital projects including asset management, establishment of preventative/predictive maintenance plans, spare parts evaluation
  • PM Optimization on all assets to ensure correct information and PM specific criteria per equipment needs

Budgeting
  • Monitor and meet annually established budgets for repair materials and maintenance labor dollars
  • Developing scope of work, identification of parts that are needed, ordering parts, and staying within planned AOP budget timeframes
  • Contribute to department productivity goals through ideation, capital planning, and project management

Compensation and Benefits:
  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $73,400 - $122,850.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience (electrical or mechanical)
  • 3+ years of direct team leadership/supervision of a team
  • 4-year degree preferably in Supply Chain, Engineering, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing preventive/predictive maintenance systems
  • Must have excellent organizational skills to ensure ability to organize robust planning and scheduling method
  • Experienced in a team-oriented culture in a Union environment
  • Strong communications skills
  • Knowledge of steam, condensate systems, compressed air, cooling towers, pumps and piping systems
  • Strong project management skills, responsibilities will include REA/CEA management
  • Computer skills (MS Office). Previous Champs experience is a plus
  • Experience working with pneumatic/power/and electrical transmission and fluid transfer systems a plus
  • Understanding of electrical control systems and PLC systems (Allen Bradley)
  • Availability to work off-shifts, weekends and holidays when needed
