Job description

The Plant Trainer develops and delivers comprehensive training programs that enhance workforce capabilities, promote safety excellence, and support operational goals at our Rhinelander manufacturing facility.
The Plant Trainer role partners with associates across all departments to build skills, improve performance, and drive continuous improvement through the Printpack Continuous Skills Development initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership & Culture Development
  • Drive safety awareness and engagement throughout the plant organization
  • Foster a learning environment that promotes safety-conscious behaviors

Training Program Development & Management
  • Assess departmental skills and knowledge needs to meet business unit and plant goals
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive skills matrices (element trees) for each department and position
  • Create training materials including One Point Lessons, Work Instructions, and multimedia resources
  • Design and implement competency frameworks aligned with operational requirements

Learning Management System Administration
  • Assign, maintain, and promote training activities using Workday Learning
  • Track training completion metrics and effectiveness measurements
  • Report training analytics and collaborate with department leaders on progress

Employee Development & Onboarding
  • Lead new employee onboarding and conduct comprehensive skills assessments
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to associates at various skill levels
  • Schedule regular progress reviews with supervisors and departmental trainers

Continuous Skills Development
  • Promote engagement and adoption of the Continuous Skills Development Pillar

POSITION SCOPE:
  • Position Level: Specialist role supporting plant-wide training initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma OR equivalent experience
  • Proficient formal or informal training experience preferred
  • Expert-level knowledge in manufacturing processes

Software & Systems Proficiency
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Learning Management Systems: Experience with Workday Learning (preferred) or similar LMS platforms
  • Multimedia Development: Ability to create training materials using modern technologies and media platforms

Manufacturing & Operations Knowledge
  • Quality Management Systems: Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and processes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include, but are not limited to:
  • Primary office environment with regular plant floor exposure
  • Ability to work in a high-hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings
  • Ability to maneuver the production floor, including the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual acuity to read computer screens, reports, and documentation
  • Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment, production equipment, and mobile devices
  • Hearing ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards while working in a manufacturing facility with high-hazard materials
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed primarily in an office environment with regular plant floor exposure:
  • Primary work hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for changing business needs
  • Work performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments
  • Moderate noise levels from production equipment
  • Varying temperatures depending on season and location within the facility
  • Occasional exposure to dust, chemicals, and industrial materials
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere
  • Standard business hours with flexibility for operational needs
  • Occasional overtime during peak production periods
  • Adherence to all plant safety protocols and procedures
