JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The Direct Support Professional II/Transporter position is critical to removing the barrier of transportation for our Direct Support Professionals and Home Managers. This position is available to transport staff across all shifts each day. These rides are mainly scheduled and will be available for after hour emergency calls. Volunteers of America Mid-States employees are required to model the company’s mission, vision and values in the course of their employment.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE:
High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, or equal job skills. Demonstrate the ability to adequately read, write, and understand the English language. Requires a valid driver’s license and medication administration certification. Also requires CPR and First Aid Certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Transporting staff members to and from work locations in a timely and safe manner.
2. Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in good working condition, such as checking the oil and tire pressure, cleaning the vehicle, and scheduling regular maintenance.
3. Adhering to all traffic rules and regulations, including speed limits and traffic signs.
4. Providing excellent customer service to staff members and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
5. Reporting any accidents, incidents, or vehicle problems to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
6. Following all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and confidentiality.
7. Maintaining accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and other vehicle-related expenses.
8. Responding to emergencies, such as accidents or breakdowns, in a calm and professional manner.
9. Ensuring the safety and security of passengers at all times, including ensuring that seat belts are worn and that the vehicle is locked when not in use.
10. Providing transportation for clients when needed.
11. Assisting with loading and unloading of clients or other equipment as needed.
12. Participate in all required on-going training programs and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
13. Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor.
