Candidates should possess the ability to:
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

The Opportunity
Under the direct supervision of a Prep Foods Manager, the Prep Foods Clerk assists the Cook in conducting prep work and cooking as deemed necessary by the Cook. The Prep Foods Clerk will also assist customers with orders, serve food to customers, fill the display cases as needed and assist in the cleaning of the department. Must be able to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends. Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.
