SUMMARY
The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC), part of SUNY Brockport, and located in downtown Rochester, is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential part-time, temporary teaching positions as needed.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
  • Teaches assigned Career & Technical courses or programs
  • Engages in experiential and hands-on education when appropriate
  • Produces effective course materials
  • Achieves student learning outcomes
  • Grades and provides feedback to students in a timely manner
  • Submits student attendance and grades via Banner by due date

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university, or an appropriate level of experience in the Career & Technical field, along with the necessary credentials or licensure
  • Training, teaching, and/or mentoring experience working with culturally diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in the field or closed related field
  • Significant teaching experience

Medical
SUNY Brockport is committed to providing affordable, comprehensive health plan options for faculty, and staff. There is a 28 calendar day waiting period for medical coverage to become effective.
  • Part-time professional employees must work at least half-time and be appointed for at least three months, to be eligible.
  • Part-time academic employees, such as Adjunct Lecturers, must teach six (6) or more credits (or equivalent) to be eligible for health insurance. These employees will receive 13 pay periods of coverage for each eligible semester. Part-time academics, whose professional obligation is primarily teaching classes, may establish eligibility for health insurance for each individual semester by counting credits (or equivalent) worked at multiple state-operated campuses

Retirement
  • NYS Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) - Defined benefit plans; benefits are based on best Final Average Salary and years of service.
  • SUNY Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) - Defined contribution plan; benefits are based on the employer and employee contributions and the success of the investments. Employer contribution is 8% of salary for first seven years of service, 10% thereafter.
Membership is optional for part-time and temporary employees, except that appointees who have current membership in one of these plans must continue to participate, if eligible. All part-time employees are eligible for ERS. Part-time employees in faculty, librarian, or coach titles are also eligible for TRS; part-time employees with term, as opposed to temporary, appointments are also eligible for the ORP.
