Job description

Learning Objective

New Frontier Immigration Law is seeking a law student intern in partnership with Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law for the Summer 2027. Interns will gain hands-on legal experience working with legal assistants, law clerks, paralegals, and attorneys. The intern will gain exposure to the challenges and opportunities in immigration law including U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA, Removal Defense, Business Immigration, etc. They will learn practical methods to fill out
immigration forms, to organize and provide supporting documents, and to help clients through the
legal process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Track, file and mail relevant documents, applications and notices of action; maintain immigration databases.
  • Assist with client preparation in drafting and reviewing application packets to ensure they meet firm standards
  • Assist with responding to USCIS Requests for Evidence
  • Shadow attorneys during client meetings, 2-4 hearings, and/or strategy sessions.
  • Receive mentorship, feedback, and supervision from experienced team members
  • Assist with maintaining
    accurate and organized case files in the firm's database


Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in legal courses and pursuing a juris degree (or related)
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Interest in immigration law, social justice, or public interest law.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to commute to NFIL offices
  • Ability to learn new immigration processes quickly.
