Background

NBCUniversal Media Group is looking for a Manager of Content Consumer Insights to join our team.ย 

This individual willย be responsible forย designing, executing, and socializing custom primary quantitative and qualitative research.ย The roleย partners closely with content development, production, marketing, and performance and analytics teamsย toย champion the voice of the viewer across a show's lifecycleย byย representingย the opinions,ย preferencesย and behaviors of audiences today.ย 

In this role, you will focus primarily on Unscripted content, spanning genres includingย docuseries,ย competitionย reality, lifestyle, game shows,ย andย documentaries, as well as franchises including The Real Housewives, Love Island, The Traitors, Below Deck,ย Summer House,ย The Voice,ย America's Got Talent, and more.ย ย 

Successย requiresย not onlyย expertiseย in data and analysis, but also aย passion for unscripted content and aย strong grasp of culture and the television landscape shaping what people watch and how they engageย with entertainment today.ย ย 

This position reports to the Senior Director, Content Consumer Insights.ย 

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-endย quantitative and qualitative researchย projectsย acrossย unscriptedย contentย (including testing for pilots/episodes, marketing materials,ย early-stage concepts,ย andย series performance),ย partnering with stakeholders to frame business questions andย identifyย the mostย appropriate researchย approach.ย 

  • Translate complex research findings into clearย andย compelling narrative-driven reportsย thatย bring insights to life, inspire creativeย leadersย and support decision-making.ย 

  • Serve as a trusted voice of the consumer, helpingย internal partnersย understand audience needs, motivations, and behaviors when making business decisions.ย 

  • Integrate primary researchย insightsย with behavioral and performance data and industry trendsย to developย holisticย narrativesย and recommendations.ย ย 

  • Identifyย patterns and opportunities across studies, connecting learnings to broader contentย and cultural trends.ย 

  • Collaborateย with cross-functional partnersย on genre and landscape studies, situating NBCU's unscripted content within both the competitive environment and broader viewer behaviors and cultural shifts.ย 

  • Manage research vendor partnerships to ensure best-in-class execution across methodologies, managing timelines, recruitment, survey programming,ย analysisย andย reporting.ย 

  • Consult with internal partners,ย developingย a deep understanding of theirย objectives, decision-making processes, and how insights can be most effectively applied.ย 

  • Stay immersedย in the evolving world of unscripted television and viewer behavior, tracking shifts in how people discover, sample, and commit to shows, as well as broader cultural conversations that shape reality content consumption.ย 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in consumer insights.ย 

  • Experience in the entertainment and/or streaming industries.ย 

  • Strong foundationย in custom research acrossย quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including survey writing, data tableย reviewย and analytical rigor.ย ย

  • Deep passion for unscripted television,ย with strong familiarity with the unscripted landscape,ย contentย and conversations.ย 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,ย translatingย data-driven insights into compelling narratives.ย Experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.ย

  • Adept at balancing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.ย 

  • Detail-oriented and committed toย a high levelย of data accuracy.ย 

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
  • This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
