Description

Principle Function:

This position coordinates school break and summer camp programs for children ages 5 - 12 and group visits to the Atlanta Botanical Garden (ABG).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

School and Break Camps:

- Design and facilitate interactive camp programs that introduce campers to various features of the Atlanta Botanical Garden and fosters a love of nature, food and plants.

- Coordinate camp logistics such as parent communication, supplies, guest speakers, budgeting, and camper information/forms.

- During camp programs, direct ABG staff members and volunteers assisting with the program.

Group Visits:

- Serve as primary contact for teachers and tour group leaders booking group visits to the Garden.

- Enter booking information into ABG's software and communicate group visit logistics to other Garden employees such as security, maintenance, visitor services and others.

- Greet children's groups upon arrival to the Garden, collect payment and orient groups for their visit.

- Recruit and direct volunteer assistance with summer camp program and guided group visits to ABG.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Youth Programs Manager.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in teaching children ages 5 - 12

- Must be able to display excellent communication and interpersonal skills while managing volunteers, working with other departments, and interacting with visitors and program participants.

- This position requires strong project management, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.

- Effective presentation and written communication skills are essential.

- An enthusiasm for the outdoors and the natural world

- CPR and first aid certification a plus

- Satisfactory background and sexual offender registry checks

Physical Requirements

- Must be able to lift 20 lbs. and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
