American College Development Solutions (ACDS) is an international organization dedicated to the development of junior athletes into College-bound student-athletes, helping to expand their academic, athletic, personal and life skill-sets, while guiding them towards their ultimate goal of joining the ranks of the NCAA.
Since 2013, ACDS has pioneered student-athlete development in Asia, an initiative that is forecasted to double the number of NCAA-bound junior golfers from China by 2018.
ACDS is proud to be an Official Partner of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), which stands as the gold standard of junior golf worldwide. ACDS lends its name to the ACDS Junior All-Star Series, the collection of AJGA events for players ages 12 - 15 and a primary focal point for College coaches. ACDS and the AJGA share a mission to help junior golfers achieve their goals of playing College golf and earning College golf scholarships.
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
ACDS Internships (College Golf Development Assistants) are opportunities for individuals excited about supporting the development of the next generation of prominent College and professional golfers, while gaining once rewarding experience at a highly innovative, multi-national organization.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
College Golf Development Assistants will work with the ACDS team in preparing junior golfers for success at the College level and beyond. Interns will have the opportunity to work on various activities in the organization, as part of the U.S. or China Team, including the planning and operating of junior golf tournaments and other ACDS events, working with various partner organizations such as golf associations, sponsors and junior golf academies, and will provide invaluable mentorship to the junior golfers enrolled in ACDS Programs.
Interns will play an integral role in helping ACDS junior golfers become both successful College athletes and responsible citizens of their communities; positively impacting their lives. Interns who take on the job are also contributing enormously to the development of junior golfers and the growth of junior golf at home and abroad.
ACDS provides all interns with hands-on training, real experience, and mentoring opportunities. Interns develop skills, make connections, strengthen their resumes and references, learn about the industry, and assess their interest and abilities. Interns use their novel perspectives, fresh ideas, and specialized strengths and skill sets to aid in the organization's continued success in developing the College and professional golfers of tomorrow.
NOTE ABOUT SUMMER INTERNSHIPS:
While ACDS Internships are offered year-round at both ACDS U.S. and ACDS China locations, and involve occasional travel, during the summer season internships are solely focused on ACDS Summer Golf Tours.
ACDS Summer Golf Tours run between May and August, and are exclusive to ACDS Program Members. ACDS Summer Golf Tours are specifically designed to allow junior golfers to build their College golf resumes on the junior golf circuit in the U.S. Junior golfers and families travel with ACDS Staff across the U.S., competing in junior golf tournaments honing their skills, improving their status and ranking, showcasing their talent to College coaches, and growing as individuals.
For candidates interested in summer internships, interns will follow a specific schedule of travel between junior golf events and College campuses. During this time, Interns will chaperone junior golfers' and their parents and will be responsible for the family's logistics, positive experience and overall goodwill. Intern may be required to drive players and families between tournaments, hotels, airports, and College campuses, and will travel with both ACDS staff and other Interns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the College Golf Development Coordinator;
  • Promote ACDS mission by modeling organization's values and adherence to the ACDS Code of Conduct
  • Undergo ongoing training from ACDS Coordinators and Directors.
  • Become proficient in the delivery of key components of ACDS Program Curriculum to junior golfers and parents
  • Conduct Program Orientations for parents and players
  • Participate in regular parent meetings and clinics

  • Be available for travel to various locations across the U.S. and internationally with groups of ACDS junior golfers and staff.

  • Respect and closely adhere to NCAA Bylaws, while promoting the same to players, parents and junior golf constituents with whom ACDS works
  • Plan and operate junior golf tournaments, camps and other ACDS-run events
  • Provide 'tournament ops' orientation for participants, parents and volunteers at all ACDS-run events
  • Assist the ACDS Communications Department in creating, editing and publishing materials for media distribution
  • Communicate and coordinate with ACDS partner organizations
  • At all times, foster a positive, safe environment for ACDS junior golfers to learn, grow and develop their skills
  • Convey the ACDS brand image to the public
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or an officially recognized equivalent certificate or diploma
  • Minimum 2 years completed in 4-year University Program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-years of College golf (NCAA DI, DII, DIII) or University Club Golf experience
  • Experience coaching golf or working with junior athletes

QUALIFICATIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Successfully pass criminal background checks performed by ACDS
  • Possess an appropriate U.S. Driver License with a driving record acceptable to ACDS
  • Be insurable by ACDS

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Willingness to take active leadership role
  • Highly motivated and task-oriented
  • Willingness to work long hours in hot/cold weather and endure physical situations such as heavy lifting
  • Confident ability to drive and operate vans & cars, with a valid-driver's license
  • Confident ability to operate a company digital camera to take photographs
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software

REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
  • For current/former NCAA golfers: a reference letter from College coach
  • Proof of Completion of the NFHS Coach Certification Program (Coordinated by ACDS after hiring)
