Albuquerque, NM | Full-Time Seasonal
5-Star Center | Full-Time | Purpose-Driven | Reggio-Inspired | Growth-Focused Environment

A Summer Role That Actually Matters:
Summer is in full swing at East Gate Kids, and we have an immediate opening for a Summer Camp Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate would be someone who can hit the ground running immediately. If you are available now and ready to make an impact for the remainder of the season, we want to hear from you today.

At East Gate Kids, our summer program is one of the most dynamic seasons of the year. We serve families intentionally, build community deeply, and create structured, joy-filled experiences for school-age children. We are looking for energetic, responsible leaders who want to do more than supervise.

We're looking for leaders who can manage a group of children with confidence, keep activities moving smoothly, and maintain strong safety standards - while still creating an environment kids are excited to be part of. You can make a big difference creating the kind of memories that shape a child's confidence and friendships for years to come.

This role is ideal for someone who:
  • Loves being active and outdoors.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments.
  • Can bring both structure and fun.
  • If you naturally take initiative, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy active, structured days, this may be a strong fit.

Why This Role Matters:
Summer camp is one of the most formative environments for children ages 6–13.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead engaging daily activities that blend fun, creativity, and character development.
  • Create safe, high-energy environments where kids feel seen and valued.
  • Mentor children through social challenges, teamwork, and life skill growth.
  • Partner with families during one of the most memory-filled seasons of childhood.
  • Build leadership skills that translate into future education or youth development roles.
  • We believe summer camp should feel organized, safe, and exciting - not chaotic..

Who This Role Is For:
You may be a strong fit if you:
  • Can manage high energy without losing structure.
  • Enjoy planning and playing games, doing various activities, and creative group challenges.
  • Stay calm and solution-focused when plans change.
  • Are comfortable leading groups of children with confidence.
  • Take safety and responsibility seriously.
  • Want to be part of a team that values excellence, not mediocrity.
  • This is not a "clock in and coast" summer job. We are building a high-performing team.

What You'll Do:
Daily Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead structured games, themed activities, outdoor play, and enrichment projects.
  • Help implement weekly camp themes and engaging group challenges.
  • Supervise children during transitions, meals, outings, and quite periods.
  • Maintain strong safety practices and accountability standards.
  • Model positive social interaction and respectful communication.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and maintaining organized spaces.
  • Communicate professionally with parents during drop-off and pickup.
  • Maintain compliance with New Mexico childcare licensing and safety standards.
  • Support life-skills-based activities (teamwork, responsibility, leadership).
  • Additional Responsibilities (As Needed):
    • Drive center vans for field trips (non-CDL)

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED; degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Experience working with children (camp, after-school, childcare, church, coaching, etc.).
  • Ability to lead groups confidently and maintain safety standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced classroom environment.
  • Valid driver's license (for driving roles).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass all state-required background checks.

Preferred:
  • Previous summer camp leadership experience.
  • Experience leading older elementary or pre-teen groups.
  • Interest in education, youth development, recreation, or leadership.

What We Offer:
Competitive seasonal pay: $19–$22/hour (based on education, experience and qualifications) Professional leadership development Structured training before camp begins Supportive team environment Potential pathway into long-term roles at East Gate Kids Joy-filled, high-energy days where your work makes visible impact.

Schedule:
  • Seasonal (Now until August 1).
  • Monday – Friday.
  • Full-Day Schedule (9:00am to 6:00 pm).
  • Occasional training or special event days.

Why Join Us:
We are building a team of teachers who care deeply about children, excellence, and growth.
When camp leaders thrive, children thrive. And we take that seriously.
