Job description

Coordinator for Inclusion and Belonging
Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a Coordinator for Inclusion and Belonging to help with the creation and maintenance of a school culture inspired by the Gospel value of hospitality. As an essential team member in the Office of Mission and Identity, this position reports directly to the Director of Student Formation and Belonging and is responsible for developing and leading initiatives rooted in a spirit of inclusion and belonging while actively supporting the other apostolic works of the Mission Office.
The primary responsibilities of the Coordinator for Inclusion and Belonging involve the formation and pastoral care of underrepresented students (40%), direct collaboration with students, faculty and staff to foster a shared spirit of inclusion and belonging throughout the school (40%), and helping to deliver other mission-driven initiatives of the office (20%).
The work schedule for this 10+ month position generally mirrors the school’s academic calendar with the expectation that the coordinator also will work approximately 15 days each summer. This summer work includes facilitating and serving as a chaperone on a student immersion or pilgrimage and co-facilitation of retreat leader formation as well as the retreat for new students prior to the start of school.
Formation for Inclusion and Belonging
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across departments to amplify, create, and deliver structured academic and co-curricular programming (Xavier Scholars, Being a Multicultural Warrior) connected with the monthly mission themes (Hispanic Heritage, Indigenous Peoples, Human Dignity, Workers’ Rights, Peace and Nonviolence, Black History, etc.).
  • Partner with the Director of Adult Formation and Belonging and Office of the Principal to identify and implement an established methodology for restorative practices to address systemically incidents of harm, conflict, and misconduct to promote accountability, reconciliation, and the rebuilding of trust in the community.
  • Engage our alumni, parents, and other adult stakeholders to develop and implement a mentorship program to support underrepresented students.
  • Partner with the Director of Adult Formation and Belonging to create and maintain clear lines of communication with families of underrepresented students both formally (Parents Across Cultures) and informally.
Pastoral and Interfaith Ministry
  • Collaborate with members of the Mission Office team to envision and offer opportunities for worship and spiritual support for non-Catholic students as well as activities that foster interfaith awareness and connections.
  • In partnership with the members of the Mission Office team and Counseling Department, establish and maintain safe spaces where students can encounter culturally responsive connections and support.
  • Help provide pastoral (faith-based) counseling for the full range of students with special attention to those from underrepresented populations.
Initiatives for Prospective and Incoming Students
  • Partner with the school’s middle school facing programs in admissions, arts, and athletics to attract and support students from schools serving underrepresented populations.
  • Develop and implement, in collaboration with faculty and staff, summer and academic year programming to create early relational anchors and foster cross-cultural interaction for all incoming students.
Core Qualifications
  • A demonstrated personal faith commitment that aligns with and supports the Jesuit Catholic mission of the school and informs every area of the candidate’s life.
  • Master’s degree in social sciences or theology preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of professional counseling, ministry, and/or administrative leadership experience.
  • Strong pastoral presence and ability to connect well with adolescents from underrepresented communities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Adaptable team-player willing and able to help manage and support multiple projects in various areas of the mission office.
