Job Summary:Â
During the winter season, the Grooming Shift Foreperson is responsible for overseeing and training grooming operators to be accountable for the finished product on a section of the mountain. The Grooming Shift Foreman is responsible for overseeing and training a team of up to 20 groomers, coordinating grooming activities, and ensuring the finished product meets resort standards.Â
During the summer months this position is responsible for independently operating a variety of heavy machinery to complete excavation, grading, and construction tasks. This role requires experience with multiple types of equipment and a strong understanding of safety and efficiency. Laboring is expected as needed to complete tasks.Â
Summary of Key Responsibilities:Â
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Â
Winter Season – Grooming Shift ForepersonÂ
Perform the duties of a working foreman for a shift of groomers: train new employees in technical aspects of job, as well as operating policies and procedures; plan and issue daily work assignments; monitor work in progress and check completed work; assist in performance evaluation; bring special personnel problems to the attention of the manager; assist in planning staffing needs, interviewing and hiring, and work schedulesÂ
Prepare any required records related to grooming operations, including personnel record, driver logs, disciplinary reports, etc.Â
Supervise the proper use and maintenance of a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles, keys, and supplies used in groomingÂ
Summer Season – Equipment OperatorÂ
Safe work practice in and around construction sites, maintaining situational awareness. Understand OSHA regulations for excavations, safe trenching, and liftingÂ
Operate a range of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, skidders, loaders, haul trucks, skid steers, and graders.Â
Basic Qualifications:Â
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Â
Must be competent in grooming all areas of the mountain and all levels of terrain (beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert)Â
Broad base of mechanical knowledge and skills relevant to grooming, including the operation and maintenance of grooming equipment, including welding, blasting, operation of heavy equipment, etc. Â
