Job description

Job Title: Laborer – Precast Concrete ManufacturingJob Description

This role supports the manufacturing of precast concrete walls and structures by performing a variety of physically demanding tasks, including casting, finishing, mixing, and moving concrete. You will work in an industrial environment on extended shifts to ensure high-quality pre-fabricated concrete products are produced safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the casting and finishing of precast concrete slabs, walls, and structures according to production specifications.
  • Mix, pour, and move concrete materials safely and efficiently throughout the manufacturing area.
  • Set up forms, molds, and equipment for concrete casting during designated set-up shifts.
  • Strip precast concrete products from forms and prepare them for storage, transport, or further processing.
  • Work scheduled shifts that typically range from 10 to 12 hours, continuing until production needs are met.
  • Support different production areas, including PM Set-Up, PM Casting, PM Stripping, AM Set-Up, and yard operations on various shifts.
  • Operate or assist with equipment commonly used in construction and industrial environments, such as forklifts, when trained and authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing onto and off trailers, accessing catwalks and beds, and lifting heavy materials.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and tasks within the production process to meet daily output requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor for 10–12 hour shifts on a regular basis.
  • Capability to climb onto and off trailers safely and repeatedly during the workday.
  • Ability to get up and down from catwalks and beds as required for production tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
  • Comfort working in an industrial concrete manufacturing environment with exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday, as well as varying start times and extended hours as production requires.
  • Experience or familiarity with general labor tasks in construction, landscaping, or concrete work.
  • Basic understanding of safe material handling practices in an industrial setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in construction, landscaping, or concrete labor is highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts in an industrial or yard environment is an advantage.
  • Comfort working in harsh conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and summer heat.
  • Willingness to work night, early morning, or afternoon shifts such as PM Casting, PM Set-Up, PM Stripping, AM Set-Up, and yard shifts.
  • Interest in long-term employment with progressive wage increases and union benefits.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial concrete manufacturing facility focused on precast concrete production. The work takes place in harsh conditions, often outdoors, with exposure to the elements, including cold, rain, snow, and summer heat. The role involves long shifts, typically 10–12 hours, with schedules generally running Monday through Friday and some roles operating Sunday through Thursday. Shift options include PM Set-Up starting around noon, PM Casting starting around 2:00 p.m., PM Stripping starting around 6:30 p.m., AM Set-Up starting around midnight, Yard 1st shift starting at 6:00 a.m., Yard 2nd shift, and Yard Night Strip starting around 6:00 p.m. You will work around heavy materials, industrial equipment, and potentially forklifts, following safety procedures and wearing appropriate work attire suitable for a rugged industrial and outdoor environment.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.75/hr.
