JOB SUMMARY
The overall purpose of this position is assist in the maintenance of Public Buildings & Grounds properties, and facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates power tools, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, hand tools, and other related equipment. Watering flower beds and planters.
  • Assist building & grounds maintenance personnel with day-to-day maintenance.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Crew Leader and/or the Public Building & Grounds Department Head.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school education, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be over the age of 18

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Body agility is emphasized using feet, legs, hands, arms, and body equilibrium.
  • Position requires above normal lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, grasping, and upper body and back muscle exertion.
  • Vision requirements (with or without correction): clear vision at arm's length and distances up to 100 feet. Excellent depth perception and ability to observe up or down, to the right and left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work inside or outside year-round. Temperature extremes are: summer 95+ degrees and winter -10 degrees. There is exposure to dirt, dust, snow, rain, and noise, equipment and vibrations, hazardous chemicals.
