Job Summary: The laboratory Technician position performs assigned laboratory procedures, including data entry, processing, and resulting of biological indicator spore strip tests.

  • Aseptic transfer of tests, categorizing incoming customer tests, performing Gram stain technique to verify positive test results
  • Maintain accurate customer records
  • Follows the laboratory procedure for testing samples including
  • Sorting envelopes into single and double strips packs
  • Label the envelopes and perform data entry
  • Transferring of spore strips
  • Pulling and recording of positive samples
  • Various day-to-day preparation of lab supplies
  • Proficient at property software
  • Adheres to Laboratory quality control policies
  • Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • All other assigned duties including
  • Opening mail
  • Cleaning of laboratory and office areas
  • Mail pick-up and counting
  • Restock supplies
  • Prep gram stains and view positives
  • Archive transferred envelopes

Preferred Experience:

  • 1+ years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a laboratory operation or technical/scientific field, and basic computer competency is required.
  • Some knowledge of aseptic laboratory techniques, and microscope familiarity is preferred
  • Requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, well-focused, sense of urgency, good work ethic, and ability to function as part of a team
