Job description

This internship requires an individual with a foundation in Biology, Cell Biology, and cell culture. The individual is required to have experience in aseptic cell culture and preferably working knowledge of T cell biology. The individual is expected to have a strong initiative, work with team, apply a hands-on approach, and use technical expertise. This is a part time, onsite position in Gaithersburg, MD. Candidates requiring relocation will not be considered for the position. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn and apply aseptic techniquesto culture and maintain mammalian cell lines (e.g., tumor cells and primary T cells) under sterile conditions in a biosafety cabinet.
  • Assist in routine cell culture duties, which may include preparing sterile media and reagents, feeding and passaging cells, and maintaining detailed records of cell growth and health.
  • Maintain accurate and organized experimental recordsin a lab notebook or an electronic system, following all laboratory protocols and biosafety requirements.
  • Participate in data collection, organization, and basic analysis, which may include working with spreadsheets or other data management tools.
  • Prepare a brief final presentationor summary report on your research activities and findings at the conclusion of the internship.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate studentpursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant life sciences field, such asBiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience gained through university-level teaching laboratories, including proficiency with basic lab equipment (pipettes, microscopes, balances, pH meters) and adherence to standard safety protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data entry, basic graphing, and preparing presentations.

The anticipated base salary range has been established at $21-$25/hour. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The above salary range represents the Company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition to your salary, the Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, plus a 401(k) plan. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses or commissions.
